Feeling Nautical

ok, ok.

I know I used the star image last time, but I just couldn't help myself!  Having too much fun with these new (to me) plates!

I wanted to practice getting the design in the center of my nail by the cuticle and I thought the continuity of having all nails the same was a nice change of pace (from having an accent nail).

Plus, I mean, come on.  Who doesn't love the nautical look!?  AND china glaze First Mate IS a pretty awesome blue (a one coater on most nails)!

For Those About To Rock

I Salute You!
;0)

haha...  any AC/DC lovers out there?  How 'bout lovers of the movie School of Rock!? I love that movie so much!

Anyhoo, I just got my new set of Bundle monster plates (25 piece set) in the mail a couple days ago.  Which I was totally stoked about b/c amazon predicted they wouldn't get here for another 5 days or so.

Early nail mail ROCKS!  hahah!

So, I had to try them out.  Among my favorite and most anticipated images are the skull and the nautical star.  Thus, this mani was born!

I tried them out on the "practice mani" below:

Franken - Skool of Hard Rox

Here's a polish I made the other day.  I was really wanting the new Essie "School of Hard Rocks," but I just don't feel right paying such high prices for a cream polish I can make at home for MUCH less money.

So I made it myself! =)

At lease I think I did!  lol.  I compared it to the Essie at the store and I'm sure they're VERY close! ;)

Lacquerish Original franken- Skool of Hard Rox!

Skool of Hard Rox - hmm.. dusty goodness!

different lighting this time just 'cause I can!
Anyway, when I first made it it was too green.  And not dusty enough!  But I think this time it's right on!

A dusty green-is blue-ish teal color that's neither too dark or too light.  It's so gorgeous! And very pigmented as well!  This is 2 coats with SV on top.  Sigh.  I think I'm in love!

For this franken I used a dusty green base (the ULTA version of OPI JITNB) and added a bright blue polish from dollar tree, some white, and some black.  Rinse and repeat until it looks right!  Plus I always have to add a bunch of thinner cause doing that much bottle opening and shaking makes things rather goopy.

Waddya think!?  XD
